Special Days--August 2014

August was one of the most special months of the year because of all the special events that happened during it.  It began with Hallie's baptism. Look at these cute cousins!
A couple of weeks after Hallie got baptized, Ang got married!  It was such a fun and special couple of days.  Besides watching Ang and Ben get sealed together, going through the temple with Ang was one of my top moments.  Having my parents, sisters, and brother in laws there felt like a little piece of heaven.  I got to sit by Ang and I loved it.
That night Ang and Ben's wedding dinner was at Log Haven up Millcreek Canyon.  It was a beautiful place.  The night included a musical number by Ang on her viola, a wedding video, fancy food, speeches about Ang's good qualities by us sisters, and speeches by Ben's family, the parents, and by Ben and Ang.  Mark and I sat with Julie and Cory and Mike and Gayla.  We had a good time and it was a very special night.
The reception that night was in Ben's parents beautiful backyard.  Julie did most the decorating and it turned out to be so cute!  I was blown away at her talent.  These were some of the cute things at the reception.

I was thrilled the whole time that Ang had found such a good person to marry, one who made her very happy, and that all of us sisters were married!  It was a very special time for our family to have the last one get married.
The August festivities kept right on going after Ang got married.  The next week Landon turned one!  We went to Roy's Pizza to celebrate and then on to the splash pad.  One of Landon's favorite things to do is play in water.

Afterwards, Landon was pretty wiped out from all the fun and it was bedtime. He tiredly ate a little cake and opened presents and it was off to bed.
When he turned one, Landon's favorite thing to do was flush the toilet.  He also loved to dance and point to things. His first word was Mama.  It was hard to believe that only a year before, I saw Landon for the first time. It seemed like that year had gone sooo fast but it also felt like he had been a part of our family from the beginning.  Adding him to our family made our family even happier.  I am so glad we got to celebrate such a special person.  Landon is such a sweet, happy, stubborn, tender, funny, and smart little boy.
Less than a week later, Lucy turned 4!  Yes, I said 4!  I couldn't believe it!.  Those years sped by.  We celebrated her birthday by going to the children's museum with her friend Gwen.

Later that night, we went as a family to do what Lucy loved more than anything at the time.  We went to Jumpin' Jack's bounce house!
Lucy wanted a cake with all different colors so we went home and had a homemade confetti cake.
Landon also got a second chance at trying some birthday cake.
Her presents included her very own kickboard (she was learning to swim at the time), new sunglasses, and a princess tent. The kickboard turned out to be a great hit with Lucy.  She took it EVERYWHERE including when she took showers.
Lucy is also one that changed our family for the better when she came.  She makes us so happy because we get to enjoy her sweetness, cute little voice, her cuddles, mannerisms, and cute things she says that come out of her cute little brain.  These are some of the things that I loved during the month.  All proof of why she makes me so happy!
She discovered that pot lids make great shoes...
that Landon's changing mat makes a comfy bed...
and did all of these adorable things that I wrote down for the month:
Yesterday she gave me a hug, squeezed me really tight, patted my head, and said, "Mama, I am patting your head because that means that I love you."
The other day, she let me lay in her bed while she went potty. She came back, tucked me in, put her soft blanket my my face,  patted my head, and rubbed my face.
Lucy calls the Faucet "the Flosset" and the character Buster from Arthur "Busterd".
She just said, "Mom! I see a bubblebee!"
She said very worriedly, "I need a monicer.  I still have a fever. "
We played Chutes and Ladders for Family Home Evening.  When I rolled 15 she exclaimed excitedly,"15! 15!"  Then wrapped her arms around me in a hug and said, "I'm so proud of you. You got 15!"
At the end when she won.  I said, "Lucy you're the winner!"  She hugged me again and said, "You are the best!"
She frequently comes up to me and pats my back, or my leg and tells me she loves me or she's proud of me.  One day she came up to me while I was sitting indian style and patted my knee and sweetly said, "Mom.  You're such an idiot." and smiled. I was shocked until I realized that I said this the day before, "I'm such an idiot!"  when I had forgotten something.
Lucy's always referring to Landon as "my baby" and "your baby" like "My baby laughed at me!" or "Your baby laughed at me!"
Shooting the breeze with Lucy:  "He's (Landon) all stuffy!  Like Landon could go to the bounce house.  He could grow big a couple days but maybe we can hurry cause the bounce will win...so....hmm...but yeah."
She was sitting on the kitchen chair eating her scrambled eggs all lady-like with her legs crossed like a little adult and said, "This brasco (tabasco) is soooo good!"
Lucy got in the shower after I got out.  She lifted her leg up on the glass door and took a plastic baby spoon and moved it up and down her leg and said, "Look Mommy!  I'm just like you!"  (shaving her legs)

On top of all those special events, we also had special August days at storytime, on the carosel,
at the splashpad...
and at the swimming pool. Landon was so cute during this time because he walked really well in the swimming pool while wearing his floaty. He would have a great time getting his walking practice in on the shallow end.

Lots of Special Events+Lots of Special People=One Special Month!
