Mark's dental class thought growing mustaches and having a "Stache" Party on the last day of finals would be a great way to celebrate the end of their 2nd year and 17 finals. Although it was pretty funny to see mustaches, it was not my kind of celebration. For me it was more like a celebration when Mark shaved that thing off! You can see what I mean in this next picture. Who wants to kiss that? :)
When Mark was finally done with school he had a week break and we celebrated for real. We decided to get up extra early and go see the sunrise at Fort Lauderdale Beach on his first day off. It was amazing!
I had a day off from work during that week and we got really lucky because on that one day off, there was one camp spot left at Bahia Honda State Park in the keys! We had wanted to go there for a long time but the campsites were always booked! It was beautiful! The water was so clear and shallow so it made snorkeling so fun!
That night we drove to Key West to see the sunset and have dinner.
We woke up extra early again the next day to see the sunrise in Bahia Honda. We were able to see it on top of the old highway that used to run through the keys.
I was so happy! Everything had worked out perfectly for this trip. Especially since I had heard the mosquitos were bad and I had only seen a total of two the whole trip. I was obviously wrong though because the next day I was in agony!!! I found out all those little gnats that were following me around the whole trip weren't really gnats. There is a little Florida bug called noseeums that live by the beach. They are even worse than mosquitos because they itch for SO much longer. It took almost 2 weeks for the itching to get better! My legs looked like I had the chicken pox and I will probably have scars from all the itching I couldn't help doing. How many bites did Mark get??? Zero of course.
